Watch Point of Release: Snowbird smashes snowfall record

The good times continue to roll at Snowbird Resort in Utah.  After reaching their single season snowfall record at the end of April, a few more storms came to the Wasatch and put Snowbird over the 700 inch mark.  711 is the current tally.  Skiing and snowboarding will continue well into spring, possibly summer and maybe even until July 4th.  2004-5 was the last time that happened.

Point of Release, a crew from Jackson Hole came down to Utah to get their powder fix and they were not disappointed.  check out the sweet video of yet another powder session at Snowbird.  Click here to see more amazing videos from them….

- When both Jackson Hole and Grand Targhee closed for the season, one must inevitably migrate South in search of lift service and this past weekend presented the perfect opportunity to do so. Snowbird picked up two feet of snow last Tuesday en route to breaking their all time season snowfall record of 688″. That snow was followed by another 18″ Friday night and by Saturday morning I found myself at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon waiting for avalanche clearance after a 5 hour drive from Jackson that began at 3 AM. And well, from there it was literally all time. Just watch the video and you’ll see.
