Little Cottonwood Canyon in Utah is home to Alta and Snowbird, respectively. It is also home to some amazing backcountry skiing and snowboarding possibilities. Right across the street from the two famed resorts are acres and acres of pristine powder lines and several peaks, gullies, chutes, rollers, gaps and bowls to chose from. It has to be one of the best and user friendly backcountry areas in all the land. With a bit more work, lots actually, you can find yourself atop the Y couloir, White Pine and the Pfeifferhorn. - The 2010-11 winter keeps on giving. Cold storms in May are always welcomed, giving us one more opportunity for a winter-like descent. Until the next storm and then its off to the races again! On the first day of May, we climbed our way up to the top of the Pfeifferhorn and rode the north west couloir. A fifty foot rappel in the choke was non-existant at the end of this mega winter, allowing for a swift passage.
