Check out these upcoming amazing summer events happening at Whistler Blackcomb. That mountain never disappoints in either the winter or summer seasons!

Billabong Ante Up: This five star Ticket to Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour event is back at Whistler Blackcomb for its second year in a row on July 1. Ante Up will take place at the top of Whistler Mountain and is the marquee event for the TTR World Snowboard Tour for the 2011-2012 season. TTR is also a qualifying event for the 6Star Billabong Innsbruck Air and Style event that will take place in February 2012. For more information, visit the Whistler Blackcomb website at: http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/todo/events/2011-07/index.htm

Warrior Dash: On August 6 the ultimate event for thrill-seeking athletes will take place on Blackcomb Mountain. Warrior Dash is a 3-5 kilometer race (that’s 1.86-3.10 miles) where participants will take on intense obstacles, and celebrate their achievement with music, beer, and muddy shorts. Talk about a fun time! The deadline to enter is Friday, July 15 and it’s only $50 CAD until July 10. Get in on the action and register, and see the warrior race layout, visit their website at: http://www.warriordash.com

Kokanee Crankworx: Kokanee Crankworx is the most prestigious showcase of amateur and professional freeride mountain biking in the world. If you don’t know Kokanee, it’s a killer B.C. beer. This year the Kokanee Crankwrox descends upon Whistler July 15 to 24. The amazing festival will include outdoor expos, demo centers and lots of live music. All events are spectator friendly and a great watch. As Crankworx says, “Beg for Mercy. Beg for More. Gravoty Bekons.” Get more information on their website: http://www.crankworx.com

BBQ Championships:  Local B.C. legends and World Champions alike will gather at Dusty’s Bar & BBQ in Creekside July 29 to 31 to compete in the Whistler BBQ Championships. Now we’re talking Whistler Blackcomb! This event is the highlight of the Pacific Northwest’s competitive BBQ circuit and will feature great samples, live music and cooking demonstrations. You may also purchase the $5 Visitors Pass providing access to sampling priority from the competitors and access to the Coca Cola Sampling Booth. I think paying an extra $5 is way worth being able to have priority tasting, of course. For more information, visit the Whistler Blackcomb website at: http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/todo/events/detail/bbqchamps/index.htm?aheading=0

5 Peaks: Voted Best National Running Event and Best Race Kit four years in a row in Get Out There Magazine, this year’s 5 Peak is happening on August 20. Runners from all over B.C. will be descending on Whistler Mountain for the ultimate off-road challenge. The course will take competitors over roots, rocks, tree stumps and logs, up ski hills and hiking trails and through puddles, mud and snow.
