STRATTON MOUNTAIN, Vermont – Stratton Mountain Resort kicked off summer in style, under the sun and on the snow. With hundreds of participants, spectators and Memorial Day revelers, the Second Annual Mountain Mayhem Weekend at Stratton was a huge success with lots of fun.
Over 70 skiers and riders participated in Sunday’s rail jam featuring jumps, boxes and rails. Thirteen prizes were awarded for skiers and riders of all ages. Everyone went huge whether it was aiming to win best trick or biggest air, and they left their best moves of the season on the table. The rails and jumps were built on snow left over from the US Open Snowboarding, and it is clear that there was a lot of inspiration for the riders by their predecessors.
Besides snow fun had with the rail jams, there was also tons of fun in the mud. This past Saturday’s 5K Mudder had 72 runners battling obstacles, mud and the clock around the Nordic trails of uphill, downhill, over trees, bridges, brooks and tires. The top two women tied at 20:01 and the top man crossed the finish line at 19:40.
The Village was alive with BBQs, giveaways, Memorial Day sales and dinners. Everyone left the weekend with tans and some amazing memories. There is no doubt there is an epic summer on tap starting at Stratton this season!
