SMS Junior named to USASA All-Star Snowboard Team

Stratton, Vt. – Stratton Mountain School junior Mike Perle, Saddle River, N.J. was named to the United States of America Snowboard Association’s (USASA) All-Star Team.

Perle earned the All-Star Team distinction for his open class win at USASA Nationals in Snowboardcross April 2 – 12 in Copper Mountain, Colo. Perle was also invited to attend U.S. Snowboarding’s Project Gold Camp for Snowboardcross in Mt. Hood, Ore. June 9 – 17.

Perle competed for the U.S. Junior World Team in Italy this past winter. Perle won the Burton AM Halfpipe and placed second at the Rev Tour SBX in Mt. Hood Meadows in January.

“Mike has worked hard this year at SMS,” SMS Snowboard Program Director Ross Powers (SMS ’97) said. “He really pushes himself, from the workouts in the fall, throughout the winter competition season and into the spring.”

Stratton Mountain School is a ski and snowboard academy located at the base of Stratton Mountain that serves students in grades 8 – 12.
