Newry, Maine – Sunday River Bike Park will open its bike park Friday, June 24 for its fourth year running with a new advanced/intermediate single track called Rock Star.
Sunday River is located just minutes from the picturesque Bethel Village in Western Maine’s Mahoosuc Mountains. The Sunday River offers eight interconnected peaks of world class skiing and snowboarding, two Grand Resort Hotels and golf at the acclaimed Sunday River Golf Club.
The Bike Park ranges from beginner trails like Easy Tiger to more challenging trails such as the new Rock Star. Other activities include jumps, log rides, and berms throughout the resort’s 30 miles of terrain. A video of the types of trails is located at the bottom of the article.
The Park is open Fridays through Sundays, from 10am–4pm through the resort’s Fall Festival Weekend, October 8–9, 2011, plus holidays. Guests have the option of accessing the bike park by riding to the Chondola to the park’s many trailheads on North Peak or traveling by their own means. Lift service bike park tickets are priced are as follows: adult (ages 13 years and older) all day lift ticket $29; junior (12 years and younger) all day lift ticket $18; and trail access (no lift pass) $10. 2011 season passes are also available to purchase and are $269 for adults and $139 for juniors.
Full-suspension bikes are available to rent for $80 out of Sunday River Sports in the South Ridge Base Lodge and Bike and Stay Packages start at $49 per person.
