“Be as bare as you dare!”
The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) organization is hosting its naked bike ride in the streets of Bristol, UK on Sunday June 19. Riders gather at 12:00 p.m. and are scheduled to leave at 1:30 p.m. from the Full Moon Pub on Stokes Croft. The route will travel through the city centre for approximately one and a half to two hours, stopping at College Green at approximately 2.30pm, where a photo will be taken. The ride will finish back at the Full Moon Pub at about 3.30pm. For a closer look at the route follow the link.
All those who participate in this free event can dress as sparingly as they desire. Birthday suits are encouraged, but all is accepted. Body painting is also offered at 11:00 a.m.
Regarding any questions on the legal aspect, nudity itself is not an offense. The police have been informed and no one will be breaking the law. The only affect of this event is double takes, and smiles all around.
The purpose of the event is to show how cycling can be a prominent means of transport, community and fun. Cities will be reducing car traffic which will show immediate affects economically and environmentally.
Due to its popularity, the WNBR has even created a documentary in support of naked bike rides. For a sneak peak video on the documentary of WNBR, Indecent Exposure to Cars: The Story of the World Naked Bike Ride! visit http://www.worldnakedbikeride.org/movie/movie.htm.
