Olympic and three-time overall World Cup Champion Lindsey Vonn has another award to add to her shelf. Friday night, Vonn was presented with the 2011 Preis Herbert Award in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland.

The award is presented annually to someone who greatly promotes the Alps though the media in honor of the late Herbert Gossweiler, long-time chief of Gossweiler Media AG.

Vonn has made history with a lot of firsts with this award this year. She is the the youngest, the first female and the first non-European recipient. As a reminder, Vonn is only 26 years old.

Last year, the famous Hollywood Director Marc Forster (Stranger Than Fiction, Monster’s Ball, James Bond Quantum of Solace) was selected by the six-member jury. The well-known Swiss Director has always stayed true to his mountain roots in Davos.

The first Preis Herbet was given back in 2001 to Bernhard Russi, former Ski racer and television Commentator.

Congrats Lindsey from The Ski Channel!
