PORTLAND, OR — On July 10th, 2011, a global community of riders drawn to the summer snowboarding Mecca of Mt. Hood will be congregating at Windells Camp for the 14th Annual Bonfire Pipe to Pipe, the world’s longest running summer snowboard and skateboard event. This event is FREE and open to the public with a purchase of a lift ticket. There will be some amazing FREE BBQ, prizes and a chance to ride with the best riders from around the world.
The Bonfire Pipe to Pipe will start on the Palmer snowfield including a “jam style” snowboard competition in the brand new and exclusive feature double mini-pipe! The new double mini-pip has a spine in the middle Windells Camp built specifically for the event. Pros will be there competing for cash, and amateurs for prizes. Some past participants include: Jed Anderson, Nick Dirks, Scott Stevens, Ted Borland, Chad Otterstrom, Leanne Pelosi, Desiree Melancon, Scotty Arnold.
Once the chairlift shuts down, the party will move to the other pipe at Windells world-class skate facilities in Welches, Oregon. Skaters will gather in the early evening to skate the cement park at Windells with a fervor and intensity that surpasses anything of its kind. Some past participating skaters include: Silas Baxter-Neil, Steven “Manchild” Reeves, Rion Linderman, Willis Kimbel and Mason Merlino.
The event is presented by Bonfire Snowboarding Company and Windells Camp with support from Timberline, Gatorade, Salomon, Skullcandy, Magical Go Go & Pom Pom. Bonfire Snowboarding was started back in 1989 and has been rocking ever since.
Registration will be available on a first come, first served basis.
