STOWE, VT - This Friday, June 24 at 8pm, Spyro Gyra, the five-piece jazz ensemble plays at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, Vermont’s most intimate, high-quality and spectacular live music venue located at Stowe Mountain Resort.

For more than 30 years, Spyro Gyra has remained at the forefront of the modern jazz world. Their music has been called groovy, funky, soulful and smooth. Most importantly, it has also been called, fusion.

Founded in the mid-1970′s by saxophonist Jay Beckenstein, Spyro Gyra had its breakthrough success in 1979 with their song “Morning Dance,” a Top 40 single title track. With over 25 albums released (their most recent was Down the Wire in 2009) and 10 million copies sold, Spyro Gyra is one of the most commercially successful groups of the modern jazz genre.

Art Good from Jazz Trax has said, “Aside from one of the most amazing live shows in instrumental music and killer songs, Spyro Gyra endures as an audience favorite because they created an original style that sounded like nothing that came before it.”

The Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center is a 420-seat multipurpose theater heralding a high-quality space and sound system.  The theater has minimal seoeration between the performers and audience making no seat a bad one.
