STOWE, VT - This Friday, June 24 at 8pm, Spyro Gyra, the five-piece jazz ensemble plays at Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center, Vermont’s most intimate, high-quality and spectacular live music venue located at Stowe Mountain Resort.
For more than 30 years, Spyro Gyra has remained at the forefront of the modern jazz world. Their music has been called groovy, funky, soulful and smooth. Most importantly, it has also been called, fusion.
Founded in the mid-1970′s by saxophonist Jay Beckenstein, Spyro Gyra had its breakthrough success in 1979 with their song “Morning Dance,” a Top 40 single title track. With over 25 albums released (their most recent was Down the Wire in 2009) and 10 million copies sold, Spyro Gyra is one of the most commercially successful groups of the modern jazz genre.
