Canadian riders lead way of top ranking in TTR World Snowboard Tour

Oh, Canada! Billabong Ante Up, presented by Von Zipper is just over a week away. Athletes from all over the world are ready to take on the snowy slopes at Whistler Mountain who’s kicking off the TTR Tour on Canada Day, July 1st, 2011. “Holding this event at the top of Whistler Mountain on Canada Day, July 1st is the perfect timing and spot for a summer snowboard event” says Risto Scott, Marketing Director for Billabong Canada. With scheduled riders coming in to compete from Europe, Scandinavia, USA, Asia and Canada, there are two Canadians that are leading the way into the the 2011-12 TTR World Snowboard Tour season.

Mark McMorris and Sebastien “Toots” Toutant are holding down top 3 ratings on the TTR World Tour Slopestyle rankings. McMorris (pictured top left) is currently ranked 2nd in the their standings, and Toutant (pictured top right) in ranked 3rd. Both gentlemen competed in last year’s event, with McMorris placing 3rd, and Toutant winning the inaugural event. Toutant is very excited for this year’s event and is hoping to clench his title again. “I’m stoked to return to Billabong Ante Up for another year. It’s a really fun contest that I did well last time, and Whistler is definitely one of the best places on earth.”

Other riders scheduled to compete include Olympic Bronze Medalist for the Halfpipe Scotty Lago (USA), Chas Guldemond (USA), Gjermund Braaten (Germany), Seppe Smits (Belgium), Roope Tonteri (Finland), Sage Kotsenburg and others. For a full list, visit www.billabong.com/anteup and look under the ‘Riders’ tab.

Billabong Ante Up is a 5star TTR World Snowboard Tour event, and the marquee kick-off event for the 2011-2012 TTR World Snowboard Tour. Additionally, Billabong Ante Up is also the qualifying event for the 6 Star Billabong Innsbruck Air and Style event in February 2012.

Lots of action is planned for the opening of the TTR Tour in Whistler besides the riders themselves. Whistler will also be welcoming Canadian Hip Hop star K-OS has been confirmed to play DJ sets at this year’s event. Check out K-OS scheduled times below:

- 2:30pm- After snowboarding qualifying ends
- 4:00pm- Immediately following event finals
- 4:45pm- Immediately following event awards
