Once again, Summer Ski Camp with 2011 World Champion and Overall GS World Cup and Olympic Champion, Ted Ligety and Olympic Bronze SG Andrew Weibrecht is taking place at Mount Hood, Oregon. Mount Hood is the perfect place to host but especially this year being as they received a record high snowfall this past season of over 152 inches. Campers will be able to improve on their skills and have a great time. This year’s sessions are from June 25th through July 7th, 2011.
According to The Brave Ski Mom Blogger, the Summer Ski Camp with Ligety is a rewarding experience any parent would want for their racer in training. “The mornings were dedicated to gate training and drills. The afternoons were dedicated to activities such as pick up soccer games, hiking to breathtaking waterfalls, cliff jumping into the deep and cold Hood River and rafting on the Deschutes River.” So this particular Ski Camp doesn’t solely give you slope time with the great Ligety and Weibrecht, it’s a complete away-camp experience.
Ligety who is also one of the nicest people you could ever meet said “Mt. Hood is the one place in the US where ski racers of all walks gather to ski, so I think its important when people like myself go up there to coach and inspire these kids. It’s also a lot of fun watching the kids improve and how excited they are to wake up early to train.” Supposedly, Ligety had initially thought he might coach for a season, but was so smitten with helping the kids that he has made it a regular event on his already packed calendar.
For any program whether it be a camp or college, the question is how many students are there per teacher. At the Summer Ski Camp, there is about 1 coach for each 5 students. That really is an amazing opportunity for the campers.
Miguel at Summer Ski Camp told us there is plenty of space and accommodations for the second session starting July – July 7, but they are also accept walk-ins the the first session starting June 25- July 1. Pricing goes as follows:
