Unfortunately this is not a happy story. According to officials this past Sunday, a British hiker found the bodies of six mountaineers who apparently fell after getting caught up in snow and stones from an avalanche. The six bodies were found at the summit Neige Cordier which sits at over 8,800 feet.

The British hiker whose name is unreported currently, was traveling along the same course the mountaineers were on only one day after. It is considered one of the worse cases as scene in recent years in France.

The bodies were air lifted and were taken to the nearest town of Villar d’Aren. The identities of the bodies have not been released as of yet.
