PORTLAND, OR – The anticipation grows for the 14th Annual Bonfire Pipe to Pipe Sunday, July 10, the world’s longest running summer snowboard event. Sketches have been drawn, plans made and the snow is being prepared on Timberline’s Palmer Snowfield for a great addition this year, two side by side mini halfpipes.
The Windells Camp park crew, lead by Chase Weaver (pictured left, snapped in action on Windells action) will create not one, but two side by side mini halfpipes that will have a spine in the middle and a quarter pipe at the bottom. The course will also have various features and jibs strategically placed for riders to explore, with Amateurs will compete for prizes and Pro’s will compete for cash. Judges will be Pro team riders from Bonfire Outerwear and Salomon Snowboards.
Riders can resister at the WyEast Day Lodge at Timberline Sunday, July 10th between 8:30a.m. and 9:30 a.m. There is a limit to the first 115 participants and registration is free. However you don’t need to get in on the free action solely as a competitor. Spectators are encouraged to attend and feast on free hot dogs and Gatorade. There will also be prizes and just some good fun at Mt. Hood including a free show with Canadian heavy metal band Hoopsnake.
There’s just too much FREE here to pass up, so I suggest you make plans to hit the Mt. Hood mountain hard! Safely, of course.
The event is presented by Bonfire Snowboarding Company and Windells Camp with support from Timberline, Gatorade, Salomon, Skullcandy, Smith, Magical Go Go, Pom Pom, Creature, Independent Trucks, and OJ Wheels.
