Do you know what today, July 1, 2011 is? It’s Canada Day! Sure you can try to find where Prince William and his new bride Katherine are roaming the streets celebrating in Canada (they started their day today at the Canadian Citizenship Ceremony at the Museum of Canadian Civilization by the way), but why when you can get to Whistler for the kick off of the 2011-2012 TTR World Snowboarding Tour?

Billabong Ante Up, presented by Von Zipper is going live today, July 1st, 2011 at the top of Whistler Mountain. The event is a 5star TTR World Snowboard Tour event, and the marquee kick-off event for the 2011-2012 TTR World Snowboard Tour. In addition, Billabong Ante Up is also the qualifying event for the 6 Star Billabong Innsbruck Air and Style event in February 2012.

Now that’s what I call celebrating Canada Day! Oh, Canada!

With the world’s top snowboarders getting ready, including last year’s winner and Canadian Seb Toutant, Chas Guildemond, Gjermund Braaten, Sage Kotsenberg and Eric Willett to name a few, the TTR kick off in Whistler is the only place to be today. In between all the snowboarding action of these and other top riders, everyone will also have the treat of seeing Canadian Hip Hop Star K-OS, play DJ sets too.

Things will be revving up today from 1-5pm PST. Snowboarders from all over the world will be hitting a 90 foot big air jump with $50,000 and TTR World Tour snowboard points up for the taking.

The event is open to the public to watch, with the Whistler Village Gondola on Whistler and the Wizard Express Chair on Blackcomb opening at 10:00AM this morning. Spectators can purchase a PEAK 2 PEAK Alpine Experience ticket, or use their Seasons Pass (free access) or EDGE Card (50% off) to access the mountain.

Those who aren’t able to attend the event can watch live through the live online webcast, also available at The webcast will be live July 1st, 2011 from 1-5pm PST.
