The body of Sheryl Costello, a 34 year old climber from Golden, Colorado, was found at Mount Baker in Washington on Sunday. Costello became missing Saturday morning after returning from summiting Mt. Baker with her boyfriend who had lost sight of her.
Mountain rescue teams found her body in a hole near Heliotrope Ridge, 50 feet below. According to Deputy Mark Jilk, they are unable to retrieve her body due to the severe conditions currently existing under the snow. Once conditions do improve, Costello’s body will be able to be removed.
