July 14-16, 2011 the New England Forest Rally (NEFR) will be returning to Sunday River resort in Maine for its 20th year! NEFR is the final round in the RallyCar National Championship Series as well as a Summer X-Games qualifier. NEFR is a two-day off road race and top competitors including last year’s champion Antoine L’Estage and local 2WD star Chris Duplessis are expected to compete.
Chris Duplessis grew up near Sunday River in Mason TWP and is a rising star in this sport. He competed in his first ever Summer X-Games in 2010 and is sure to put on a spectacular show at this New England Forest Rally.
Starting Thursday night, July 14, drivers and their crews will set up at Sunday River and run practice loops around the resort. After their practice they will be signing autographs! Race day begins Friday morning where everyone will get an opportunity to see very car close up and meet the drivers in front of Sunday River’s South Ridge. The first stage of the race occurs at Sunday River and after two days of racing the racers come back to Sunday River for the awards ceremony at South Ridge and the official after party at Foggy Goggle.
The best part is the events are all entirely free to the public! So come check out the New England Forest Rally at Sunday River this July 14th through the 16th.
