The Tough Mountain Challenge is back!  This July 23 Sunday River, Maine is hosting its second annual adventure obstacle race. Last year 1,000 thrill-seeking athletes attended the event with little knowledge of what to expect.  After last years event it is safe to say this event is crazy! In a good way of course, and spots are filing up fast as only 1,000 entries are available.

There are a lot of races out there for people who want to run 10 kilometers, or spend 24 hours doing extraneous tasks.   You can also find events and races where people get seriously hurt or even die.  But if you are looking for something different, something to test your ability but have fun at the same time, the Tough Mountain Challenge is perfect for you.

During the 5-k course racers encounter 16 obstacles including a slip ‘n slide, mud crawl, snowgun salute, a jump through a fire ring just to name a few.  This race is not about finishing first or last it is about testing your own limits and at the end celebrating your accomplishment with everyone else.

Yet it is much more than a race.   It’s an all day party with barbecues, a beer garden, free Mini Mountain Challenge for kids, chair lift rides and much more.  You can even make it into a weekend get away, there are two hotels available in Sunday River and may condominiums too.

It only costs  $49 to register, and only the first 1,000 competitors to sign up will compete.  So make sure to register fast! Click here to see a registration form and more details.
