THREE RIVERS, CA – The most salient trait of this week’s featured destinations in the National Park Getaway series of travel articles is height, and that refers to measurement as well as an ultimate experience. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are famous for the snow-dusted mountains and towering trees that greet all visitors including hikers, climbers and equestrians.

Sequoia and Kings Canyon (adjacent national parks in the southern Sierra Nevada) boasts the largest living tree in the world and the highest point in the contiguous United States. Mount Whitney, a very popular hiking destination and demanding the highest peak in the United States is located on the eastern section of the Sequoia National Park.

It’s time to make the trek if you haven’t already. To learn more about specific attractions within Sequoia and Kings Canyon, check out the article at www.nps.gov/getaways
