The Ski Channel’s THE STORY, directed by our own Steve Bellamy, is kicking off the acclaimed Las Vegas International Film Festival (LVFF) tonight, Friday, July 15, 2011. The festival is taking place at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel and Casino this weekend from July 15 to 17.

Now in its fourth year, LVFF is the only international film festival in sin-city and delivers huge celebrity turnouts, Oscar-winning films and world premieres. Besides Steve Bellamy and some of our Ski Channel team attending, Hollywood star Michael Madsen (Donnie Brasco, Kill Bill), will be there helping to celebrate the start of the festival by hosting the LVFF Opening Night VIP at Bank Nightclub in the Bellagio. Madsen will also be receiving the “Indie Icon” award and having a free intimate Q & A with audiences on Saturday, July 16, after a screening of his 2008 movie VICE. He will also be doing a book signing of his new book after at the Tempo Lounge in the Hilton from 7-8:45 PM on Saturday.

The LVFF Opening night festivities begin with red carpet arrivals at 5:30 PM, followed by THE STORY’s Las Vegas premiere at 7 PM. The screening will be in the Hilton Theater and there will be an Opening night premiere reception starting at 8:30 PM in the Tempo Lounge at The Hilton.

The opening events are free so you better get to the Las Vegas Hilton early and looking sharp to get your seat. If you haven’t heard yet, THE STORY has been making waves around the country since it first premiered at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA last October. Skiing Legend Jamie Pierre has said THE STORY is, “probably the best ski film I have ever seen.”

THE STORY stars Bode Miller, Lindsey Vonn, Bobby Brown, Willie Bogner, Chris Davenport, Kristi Leskinen, Chris Benchetler, Reggie & Zack Crist, Mike Douglas and numerous other stars of skiing, snowboarding, speed flying, paragliding, river surfing and kite skiing. The film takes viewers into deep character dives with the most famous skiers to the most obscure ski bums as well as to the top of Mount Everest, never before skied steeps in Alaska and various gut-wrenching variations on human flight.
