Copper Mountain, CO – July 18, 2011 – As host to three noteworthy charitable events this summer, Copper Mountain encourages cyclists, hikers, and volunteers to join them in raising much needed funding for the Children’s Hospital of Denver, the National MS Society, and the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s disease research.
The first event opportunity of the summer is the Courage Classic, held July 23-25. This is a 157-mile bike race through scenic towns and mountain passes of the Colorado Mountains. This event is catered towards serious cyclists, but families and not-as-intense riders are invited to participate in the 35-mile short course or the 100-mile century ride on Sunday. Last year there were over 2000 cyclists, and the race raised 2.3 million for The Children’s Hospital of Denver! Register here!
The Next event is the Hike MS and benefit concert with the Freddy Jones Band, held on July 30. This is a day of hiking where families may enjoy a leisurely 2-mile hike on the Green Route, while experienced hikers can choose the more advanced 5 mile Blue Route or take on the challenge of the 10 mile Black Route. A BBQ lunch, entertainment, and live music will be provided, making this a perfect day to enjoy the outdoors and support The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Colorado-Wyoming Chapter . Last year this raised over $30,000 with 400 participants, and event planners are looking to double the amount of people this year! Register here!
The last event is the Copper Triangle, on August 6, which is a 78-mile bike course through the mountains. After completing the course, riders and onlookers will enjoy the Alpine Celebration with live music, a first-class lunch, prize drawings and cycle expo. Last year, The Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkison’s disease research accepted a contribution of $125,000 to support the research of curative therapies for Parkinson’s patients and investigations into the cause of the disease!
