The Ski Channel’s THE STORY, directed by our own Steve Bellamy, took home the Best Film and Best Director awards at this year’s Las Vegas International Film Festival (LVFF) after kicking off the LVFF opening night taking place at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel and Casino. However, these accolades are adding to its shelf. In June, THE STORY won the presigious Warren Miller Media Award at the Far West Ski Conference.

Opening night was a huge success for the LVFF, and THE STORY helped bring in the crowds for a truly fun and good start. With over 10,000 people attending the film festival in sin city, opening night had a fantastic turnout and those who attended THE STORY were entertained and inspired. There wasn’t a dry eye in the theater towards the end of the film with the very powerful Stephani Victor segment, as usual. The roar of the applause at the end could be heard outside the theater.

The journey of THE STORY has been like its storyline. Just as its importance is not solely on how its been collecting awards and praises, it is sending a message of everyone’s love of the mountain. It is a movie more than just a collection of stories of our friends and master mountain athletes, it’s a journey of collaboration and love. It’s a journey of accomplishments and excitement from super well-knowns like Bode Miller and Lindsey Vonn, to amazingly surprising unknowns like the Robert Athey, aka “The Wizard of Wasatch.”

Through all forms of mountain sports like skiing, snowboarding, speed flying, paragliding, river surfing and kite skiing, THE STORY takes viewers into deep character dives with the most famous skiers to the most obscure ski bums as well as to the top of Mount Everest, never before skied steeps in Alaska and various gut-wrenching variations on human flight.

Stay tuned right here at The Ski Channel for announcements of the next film festival where you can catch THE STORY soon.
