Speed Flying – The Hybrid Sport of Your Dreams
Powder skiing can often produce a sensation similar to that of flying, especially when the mountain is impeccably steep and the snow is unscathed by man-made tracks. As you float atop the deep powder and launch off ledges it feels as if you are leaving the earth and joining the avian creatures of the sky just as Daedelus and Icarus have done according to the ancient Roman myth.
But what if you really could take flight while skiing down a mountain? Well, a few adventurous powder skiers have already done so on Mt. Superior in Utah. How? With nothing more than a pair of skis, a parasail, and an extra large pair of cojones!
Here’s a peek at Marshall Miller’s incredible footage from a flawless, celestial day of Speed Flying in and above Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah.
Of course, Speed Flying isn’t exactly flying… but it is pretty darn close. This radically beautiful sport combines skiing and paragliding to allow you to capture the essence of flying. You float, take flight, touch down, and take off again. It truly is amazing.
So if you’re an adrenaline junkie on the lookout for the next big thing, try Speed Flying. It is unlike any experience either on or off the slopes.
