A North Carolina woman recently climbed the Appalachian trail in 46 days.  She believes that this is the newest record by a day.  While no official record exists of trail crossing times, her 2,180-mile trek in 46 days seems to be the new record. A map of her hike is pictured below at the bottom.

28 year old Jennifer Pharr Davis, hiked an average of 47 miles a day from Maine to Georgia says a local news station.

Davis was quoted saying: “I had some bad weather.  I had horrible shin splints. I was sick on the trail. So, there were plenty of times when I thought I wouldn’t be able to do it.”

Yet this didn’t stop Davis as the beauty of the trail and surrounding mountains continually inspired her.  She hopes that her hike will inspire other women to set their sights high and take part in more outdoor activities.

A tumblr was made to record her hike, so for more information and detail about her journey click here.
