Friday Video Fun: First Chairlifts Are Special Days

It’s another Friday so you know what that means. It’s Friday Video Fun Day!  Happy Friday everybody!

This Friday, we are looking at footage of a ski resort getting its very first chairlift. When a resort gets a new chairlift, its like having a baby – its very special day. Both people and mountains rejoice. I’m a sucker for old ski advertisements and footage as I’ve made clear from past Friday Video Fun Days

Check out this newsreel below, showcasing New Zealand’s Mt. Ruapehu getting it’s first chairlift in the 1950′s/1960′s.  Mt. Ruapehu is New Zealand’s largest ski area.  Let’s plan a trip, shall we? I mean, that’s where all the actions at right now. The snow is coming down someone in the southern hemisphere as we speak…

If you like the look of the vintage Mt. Raupehu postcard above, you can find it and others here at: www.cardcow.com.
