Sean Pettit, the 19 year old from British Columbia, Canada, has entered into a long term agreement with his previous sponsor K2.
Sean has been skiing at a professional level since the age of 11 and within eight years, the majority of his life, he has acquired a repertoire that most professional skiers would be content with. Many of these accomplishments include wins in competitions such as the Red Bull Cold Rush, performance segments in films such as Matchstick’s “In Deep”, and received the 2010 “male performer of the year” and “full throttle” awards at the Powder Awards in Aspen. He said the decision to remain on the K2 team has been an easy one for him.
“K2 has been there with me since the beginning,” says Pettit. “When I was younger and just figuring out what skiing was all about, several of my idols were on their Factory Team. Before I knew it, they were giving me skis. So to be part of this family genuinely means a lot to me. The staff at K2 are my friends, and I believe we share a lot of the same spirit in what we do together every day.”
VP-Marketing, Jeff Mechura said, “Sean has been with K2 from a very early age and his natural talent, hard work, creativity and passion has made him one of the sports best athletes. He is a great fit for the K2 brand on so many levels and his name flows seamlessly
into the lineage of legendary K2 athletes both past and present. We look forward to having fun working with Sean on a multitude of projects in the years to come.”
Sean has been described as one of the best freeskiers in the world and at the ripe age of 19 there is not much of a chance of Pettit slowing down. The five year extenuation with K2 will have to be renegotiated when he is 24, and by the looks of it, K2 should be enjoying a long standing relationship with this fearless athlete.
