BANFF, CANADA - Would you consider yourself an adventure filmmaker? Someone that thrives on sending it big on the mountain, but always manages to dedicate a free hand to your camera even while stretching out an epic nose grab with the other? Did watching the new trailer for Winter make your creative juices boil over with anticipation for the upcoming season of filmmaking opportunities?!?! If you answered “yes” to any of these descriptions, then Banff Mountain has the perfect program for you!

The Adventure Filmmakers’ Workshop is an opportunity for fledgling filmmakers to take their project from concept to completion with the help of two of the industry’s most creative artists. They are putting out the call to all aspiring filmmakers to join this year’s program, and have extended the registration to September 27th!

Check out the video if you need further convincing:

Throughout the eight day program October 31, 2011 – November 7, 2011, you will build relationships, network with like-minded artists, and mingle with top industry insiders and move-makers. This all goes down during the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, which means you’ll not only receive non-stop motivation and inspiration but  also have full access to Festival events.

Sessions will guide you in refining your vision, organize your workflow plan, develop audio, narrative, and editing techniques, and perfect your pitch. The Banff faculty promotes an open, interactive, and creative atmosphere. Days are packed with hands-on practice, lively discussion, and brainstorming – and evenings include film screenings, guest speakers, and social events.

The workshop is designed for filmmakers, directors, and producers. It is geared towards applicants that have enough experience in film production to recognize the need for distribution and financing. Some of the past participants include elite athletes interested in transitioning to filmmaking, expeditions wanting to expand to different media platforms, and filmmakers wanting to break into the adventure genre.

Participation is limited to 27 people, on-campus lodging and all meals provided.

Scholarships are available – see registration form at for details.
