ARAPAHOE BASIN, CO - Earlier this week Arapahoe Basin announced the promotion of Jamie Ober to the role of Snow Safety Director. Jamie Ober got his start at Arapahoe working in the Lift Operations department in 1999, and three seasons later took on the role of department manager. Over the next four years, Jamie was instrumental in the development of Arapahoe Basin’s first terrain park and became the supervisor of that department in addition to overseeing lift operations. In January 2006, Jamie started working in the Arapahoe Basin Ski Patrol. Since then, he has worked as a full time patroller and summer trail crew leader, in addition to working as an early season snowmaker.
“I am excited to see Jamie Ober assume this new role within the Arapahoe Basin Ski Patrol. Jamie has already contributed so much to make our patrol and this ski area successful. His passion for snow, terrain, and our guests will ensure that the legend continues,” said Tony Cammarata, A-Basin Ski Patrol Director.
Jamie came into the ski partol department through his passion for backcountry skiing, and snow science. Various travel excursions have provided Jamie with experience in multiple snow packs, including New Zealand, South America, Alaska, and Canada. He has accumulated a deep rolodex of contacts within the industry from tours abroad and at home. Competitive skiing accolades include competing in the World Freeskiing Championships and dominating the A-Basin Enduro a record 5 times.
