MAMMOTH LAKE, CA – The Mammoth Bike Team just announced the addition of professional downhill bike rider, Aaron Gwin. Known as the savior of US downhill mountain biking, Gwin is fresh from his most successful season to date. This past year he managed to become a five-time winner of the U.C.I. World Cup DH (all in one season), and the first American to win the U.C.I. World Cup Down Hill Overall Title.

Gwin will call The Mammoth Bike Park his new home and utilize the 75+ miles of mountain bike trails to take his riding abilities to new heights. He’ll be bringing a wealth of trail expertise to the park, and be an instrumental source of inspiration for new creative designs and improvements to the park’s trails.

“I’m super excited to be teaming up with the Mammoth Bike Park! I’ve been going to Mammoth since I was a kid racing dirt bikes and it’s one of the coolest places I’ve ever been,” said Gwin. “The vibe up there is awesome and being so close to So Cal, I see it as the ideal place for a mountain bike park. Mammoth has big plans for the park and I’m genuinely stoked to spend my time up there and to help with the development of the park as much as possible!”

There have been a ton of improvements to the Mammoth Bike Park over the past three years including the construction of multiple new jump trails, the installation of over 200 tons of paver bricks and the construction of dozens of wall rides, bridges of other wood and metal features. In preparation for the 2011 season, Mammoth Bike Park actually doubled their trail crew size to 20 full-time workers and saw a spending increase of 1000% on bike park improvements.

“It’s incredible to have a rider of Aaron’s caliber joining our team,” said Mark Hendrickson, Mammoth Bike Park Manager. “He’s one of the raddest riders in all of mountain biking!”
