SEATTLE, WA - What do you get when you combine the world’s greatest rock band with the world’s greatest skis?
The Rolling Stones and K2 Skis have joined forces to create some of the most head-turning planks on the market for the 2011/2012 season. The K2 Rolling Stones Limited Edition Ski Collection gets the party rolling — like only Mick, Keith, Charlie, and Ronnie can — for their joint 50th year anniversary celebrations with the announcement made today by Tom Bennett, CEO of Bravado, and Jeff Mechura, Vice President of Global Marketing, K2.
“The Rolling Stones’ 50th anniversary is a true milestone. They exemplify the ultimate spirit of Rock N Roll and have earned their place in history as the “World’s Greatest Band” stated Mr. Bennett. “Bravado is thrilled to partner with K2, who have allowed for a very creative collaboration and designed a really fantastic set of skis.”
K2 worked hand-in-hand with the Stones to create four iconic graphics to detail the extremely versatile SideShow chasis. Each graphic depicts memorable points in the bands illustrious career such as the group’s original concert set list, lyrics and rare photographs.
Its going to be difficult for a die-hard Rolling Stones fan to risk noobies scuffing these babies in the lift line, but your urge to rock your friend’s world will be too much temptation to resist!
The bases of the skis will share two of the most recognizable emblems of the past 50 years: the iconic Rolling Stones Lip and Tongue logo and the famous K2 logo. Your friends are going to be begging you to stretch out that grab to get a better look at them! Keep it tight though — the first rule of being a rockstar is to ALWAYS leave them wanting more!
“This is just the first of many unique and exciting products and promotions that K2 will be releasing in commemoration of our 50th anniversary,” says Mechura. “Turning 50 alongside the Rolling Stones and collaborating with the band on a project to celebrate the same anniversary is a fitting way to start a very loud and fun party for K2 that will span 2012″.
The skis’ drop globally on November 15, 2011. While it feels somewhat cruel to announce these so early, if you are patient you will be able to pick up a pair at your local K2 Authorized dealer soon enough.
Readers and viewers of The Ski Channel will have an exclusive opportunity to WIN their very own pair of these extraordinary skis.
