WANAKA, NZ - Our kiwi cousins in Wanaka, New Zealand down at the Treble Cone mountain resort are saying goodbye to yet another epic winter season. This years opening day was historic for TC (Treble Cone), as a storm early in July blanketed the mountain with a fresh coat of powder, leaving eyes wide and jaws dropping. Despite being lashed by wind in August, the snow base held up, and those familiar with TC were able to find a few of the sheltered areas the mountain has to offer. Whether new to TC, or a hard core campaigner, conditions made it great for covering a lot of ground and for having a good time!
And as the snow melts away down in the Southern Hemisphere, the people at Treble Cone want to give a big THANKS to all the friends and families who came out to TC for the 2011 season as well as for the staff who together, create a passion for snow which has become Treble Cone.
Closing Day is on Sunday October 2nd, and although bittersweet for all the TC locals, it is day to have fun and spend time with good people. To celebrate, everyone dresses up in costumes, the weirder the better, and head up to the mountain for one last ride. Down at the bottom of the hill, they will be having their annual Slush Cup, and the Wanaka Beats DJ’s with be throwing down tunes from 11-4pm. There will be food, drinks (4 bottles of SOL for 20$), and also, season ticket holders can bring a guest and get them a half off lift ticket for the day.
So wear your Zinc, get dressed up, and prepare for a final day of fun with the Treble Cone family!!
TC Charity Day is to be held Saturday October 8th, and is a great time to spend one last day in the Great Basin up at TC, and will benefit the Wanaka Rowing Club and Aspiring Search Dogs.
Tickets will cost $40, are limited to the first 250 people, and can be bought online at racers edge. There will be no door sales or refunds, but children U12 are free. Gates will be open 8.30-10.30 am, and there will be a BBW and Sausage stand on the plaza.
