First Snow at Snowshoe Mountain: 4 Inches is Fine!

SNOWSHOE, WV – That temptress Mother Nature worked her magic and coaxed Winter to strut its stuff all over the mountains of Pocahontas County this weekend. The very first flakes were seen just before midnight on Friday and continued throughout Saturday accumulating a satisfying 4 inches! Additional snowfall is expected through mid-day on Monday, with up to another inch of accumulation possible.

Not only is Snowshoe the first ski resort on the East Coast to record snowfall this season, it is earliest the region’s largest winter resort has seen snow in six years!

Since opening day is a short 6 weeks away, Snowshoe took full advantage of cold temperatures on Saturday morning and fired up several of the resort’s powerful snowmaking guns. The official start to the season at the resort is Wednesday, November 23rd, just in time for the Thanksgiving!
