First Snow Continues to Accumulate at Snowshoe: Over 9 Inches!

SNOWSHOE, WV – Mother Nature has continued to bless the Snowshoe Mountain Resort area in West Virginia, as five more inches of fresh powder have fallen since Friday, which brought a weekend total of 9″ of natural snow. Although the resort won’t officially begin snowmaking until November 1st, the cold weather over the weekend gave them the chance to fire up the resort’s powerful snowmaking system in preparations for their November 23rd Opening Day.

In light of the optimism the people at Snowshoe feel about the upcoming winter season, they are offering a 20% discount on all winter lodging and rental equipment booked by October 31st. This includes discountson all of Snowshoes 1,400 lodging units, and everything from basic hotel rooms to luxury slope side condos.Snowshoe averaged 230″ of natural snow in the 2009-2010 season, and the last time they saw snow as early as September was 2006. With a a resort boasting an 11,000-acre snow playground with 1,500 feet of vertical drop, as well as fine dining and shopping, this early snow is just an added bonus to what is already considered a great ski resort.
