The summits around Lake Tahoe have turned to pristine white, and with more than a foot of new snow at most resorts, the anticipation for the winter season is too much to handle! In less than 30 days the renowned SnowBomb Ski and Snowboard Festivals in San Francisco and Silicon Valley will once again bring all the excitement of winter to ski and snowboard fans from around Northern California.
“This year we’ve targeted our focus on Value and Entertainment,” says event founder Jim McAlpine. “By making our events not only exciting and ground-breaking, but also affordable we’re able to offer skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities an amazing day of winter in the Bay Area.”
This year both the San Francisco and Silicon Valley Ski and Snowboard Festivals will feature an array of new entertainment aspects geared toward family fun for all ages.
LIVE BMX/SKATE EXHIBITION
To start off each day, there will be a live BMX/Skateboard halfpipe and street course demonstration inside each festival just a few feet away from more than 25 world-class resorts and over 100 of the industries top brands such as Atomic, Orage and The North Face. Outside each festival fans will see even more action on the mini-ramp exhibition with local Tahoe riders presented by Sierra-at-Tahoe.
WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT
SnowBomb Ski and Snowboard Festivals present High Fives Non-Profit Foundation President and Co-Found Roy Tuscany. He will attempt to break the world record for the most high fives in one day by a single individual. How exciting! His goal is to HIGH FIVE more than 10,000 people on Saturday, Nov. 5th. Festival attendees are encouraged to raise their hands high to support Roy.
SnowBomb has also ramped up the interactive entertainment each evening with the introduction of partnerships with award-winning filmmakers Teton Gravity Research and Matchstick Productions to host movie premiere nights at both the San Francisco and Silicon Valley Festivals. What’s more… the first 400 attendees to MSP’s “Attack of La Nina” on Nov. 5th and Nov. 12th will receive a free lift ticket to Sugar Bowl. And… the first 400 attendees to TGR’s “One for the Road” on Nov. 13th will receive a free lift ticket to Alpine Meadows.
WINE AND BEER TASTING
For those looking for a bit more than the standard ski and snowboard expo SnowBomb has built on three years of success with Wine Tasting on Saturday and Beer Tasting on Sunday. This element of each SnowBomb Festival can be accessed for only $40 and includes one-on-one interaction with more than 150 wineries and breweries offering tastes of their newest flavors this year.
FREE LIFT TICKETS
When it comes to Value, nobody does it better than SnowBomb, says McAlpine, who has been promoting discount skiing and snowboarding in the Lake Tahoe area since 1996. Every ticket into the Ski and Snowboard Festival includes three free lift tickets (one each to Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge and China Peak); unlimited access to more than 20,000 square-feet of the latest winter gear at over 70 percent off retail prices; and more than 100 exhibitors offering access to the pure winter experience.
“This year we’ve brought back more than 20 world-class resorts including Squaw, Whistler, Jackson Hole, Mammoth, Sun Valley, Big Sky and many more,” said the Festival’s new Director of Operations, Justin Broglio. “And we’ve got all our favorite Lake Tahoe resorts in attendance alongside industry leading brands such as Atomic, Orage, Rossignol, K2 Skis, The North Face and Dynastar.”
