The 47th Annual Mt. Spokane Ski Patrol Ski SWAP is going to be huge this year!
Traditionally the largest event of its kind in the region it is anticipated that the SWAP will draw over 6,500 outdoor enthusiasts to buy and sell over 24,000 items. The Ski Patrol anticipates a record setting inventory of equipment at this year’s event, including a great selection of kids gear – from helmets, to mittens, to snowboards and skis – that is always a hot department for regular “swappers”.
“We have expanded into Bay 1 this year giving us more room for more equipment and more people!” stated patroller Dan Edwards, Director of the 2011 MSSP SWAP. “The new space has allowed us to reconfigure the floorplan which will improve traffic flow through the various departments and create a more efficient check-out system.”
This sensational event is happening the last weekend of October at the Spokane Fair & Expo Center. The public can bring in their “experienced gear” to register for sale between 3:00pm and 8:00 pm on Friday, October 28th. The door opens for SWAP sales Saturday morning at 9:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm. Again on Sunday, October 30th the door opens at 9:00 am with sales until noon. Participants can pick-up their checks (20% of the sold price will be retained by Ski Patrol) and unsold gear between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm on Sunday. For just a low price, admission to the event is only $5 and children 12 years and under are admitted FREE!
Who doesn’t get excited about discounts? SWAP organizers are excited to announce that again this year sellers will have the opportunity to “discount” pricing by 25% for selected items on Sunday. “There is always plenty of gear remaining on Sunday and a lot of it will be available at an additional 25% off,” stated Steve Ellison, MSSP Director. “After the great year last year, we are hoping for a La Nina follow-up, that comes early and keeps the white stuff falling all season on Mt. Spokane.”
Mt. Spokane staff will once again be at the SWAP selling reduced-price season passes for individuals, families, kids, and seniors, as well as taking season pass pictures and issuing passes for those who have already purchased. Discounted pass pricing for this season is only offered on location in Spokane through the last day of the SWAP, expiring on October 31st. Mt. Spokane will also be offering lesson packages, as well as reduced lift ticket packages.
