Black Diamond Equipment, Ltd, is celebrating its 21st anniversary in style by presenting new hires for its apparel design and development team. The company is a leader in climbing, skiing and mountain sports equipment, and produces original products that actively conserves the mountain environment.
Peter Metcalf, President and CEO of Black Diamond, Inc, states, “We continue to invest in the people and processes needed to drive our business forward and achieve our key strategic objectives”.
Industry expert Cherly Knopp will be the design leader for the company’s apparel initiative. Knopp previously worked as a freelance designer for Mountain Hardwear and Simms Fishing Products as well as consulted for W.L. Gore & Associates and served as vice president of product development for Arc’teryx Equipment Inc. The new experience rich apparel team includes designers Damien Kelly, Jenny Grad and Teri Davis.
“Apparel is a major global initiative for Black Diamond, with the launch slated for Fall 2013,” says Tim Bantle, Director of Apparel. “We are assembling a team of talented individuals. They represent the key components of design, sourcing and materials innovation that will drive our apparel business forward in the years ahead.”
Ajay Badiga has 20 years of experience including 10 years as director of sourcing and development in outwear, sportswear, and athletic apparel with The Sports Authority. The experienced Badiga will be the new Director of Sourcing and Development for Apparel at Black Diamond.
Black Diamond is also introducing Jeff Nash as Vice President of Engineering Support Services. Nash was the previous director of material development at The North Face (TNF) and served as vice chair for the American Society for Testing and Materials Subcommittee on Camping Softgoods. He was also a huge factor in the execution of bluesign® certification in the TNF supply chain.
