Beats for Boobs and Boarding for Breast Cancer put together an awesome event Wednesday night at The Key Club on West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip. Doors opened at 7 p.m. to an impressive three-story venue complete with a stage that has seen the likes of The Doors, Van Halen, Guns N’ Roses, and Prince.
Beats for Boobs Los Angeles raised awareness and funds for breast cancer with proceeds from tickets, merchandise sales, donations, raffle tickets, and sponsorships going to San Francisco’s Busted Foundation and the Boarding for Breast Cancer Survivor Scholarship Fund. The ladies of B4BC were in attendance as well as plenty of donors, special guests, sponsors, breast cancer activists, and the general public. Special guest and professional snowboarder Ian Thorley also knew The Key Club was the place to be on this particular Wednesday night as he enjoyed the full benefits of a ladies-filled event while helping out a great cause.
Ian explained, “I attended Beats for Boobs because cancer affects far too many people in the world. I want to help spread the message for B4BC. It’s personal for me — my grandmother was effected by breast cancer. The more awareness about this disease we can spread; the better!”
The club was popping with a big crowd (decorated in plenty of pink), a wide display of free food, 2 full bars, 5 different DJ’s (including Marques Wyatt, Garth Trinidad, and DJ Kerry), a number of artists, and a fashion show. The fashion show included Shpetim Zero, Mae’s Dress Shop, and Shelly Erion. Speakers opened the show with personal inspiring breast cancer survival stories just prior to the models gracing the run walk in spectacular, fashionable outfits.
Beats for Boobs went all out when it came down to food selection. Food donors included Large Marge Sustainables, Love & Butter, Jackson Market & Deli, and Drunken Udder. Free bags of Pretzel Crisps were everywhere as well as friendly waiters carrying sample dishes. The food donors offered up an impressive healthy array of soups, snacks, and sandwiches. Dessert was the culinary highlight with a variety of brownies, cookies, and killer cupcakes as well as unforgettable, fan-favorite alcoholic ice cream. The alcohol infused ice cream invigorated event-goers with a genius combination of popular adult beverages and everybody’s favorite dessert, ice cream. Drunken Udder literally made a buzz with samples of its Bourbon Salted Caramel, Vodka Vanilla Bean, and Chocolate Cabernet Crunch.
Other features of the event included a Tribute Wall for breast cancer victims and survivors, a Prize Wheel with everyone walking away with a prize, and a raffle with even more prize opportunities including a pair of unique Pink UGG boots.
The first ever Los Angeles Boobs for Beats event was a definite fund and awareness raising hit!
