Since the first Winter X Games was held in 1997 at the Snow Summit Mountain Resort in Big Bear Lake, California, the event has undergone a number of changes. Sports have been added and removed, viewership has exploded and the event location has moved. Now, more than a decade after the inaugural Games, one more change is on the horizon and this time it has to do with the coveted hardware that marks an X Games victory.
This past month, ESPN held its first “Test Your Medal” Winter X medal design contest and, not surprisingly, entries poured in from across the country. After narrowing down the submissions into a list of semi-finalists, ESPN is now asking for your help in choosing the winner. Which medal design would you like to see adorn the necks of your favorite Winter X athletes in Aspen this January?
Head to ESPN’s website to check out the lucky 16 semifinalists! The fan-vote closes at midnight, ET, November 18. On November 19, the top-three designs will battle it out for supremacy in a final-round fan vote. The winner will be announced on December 1.
The winner will receive his/her own set of Winter X Games medals and recognition as this year’s medal designer on the Winter X telecast. The top three designers will also win Winter X Games prize packs with official X Games merchandise.
Hurry up and vote!
