Colorado’s Keystone Mountain is celebrating its opening day today! The festivities kicked off at 9 am Friday, and in honor of the late Max and Edna Decrum who founded Keystone, this opening day has been renamed as Dercum Day in honor of Max and Edna.

The day started with the ceremonial dedication of a special gondola cabin that was styled with historical photos of the Decrums, and followed by top-to-bottom skiing and riding — just how they would have wanted!

Thanks to the big storm earlier in the week that dropped an additional 8-inches of fresh snow, and dedicated snowmaking operations, the resort was able to open runs from top to bottom! Skiiers and snowboarders will get ot enjoy Spring Dipper and River Run trails, all serviced by the River Run Gondola. For beginners, the resort is offering two learning areas, one at the top of the mountain and one at the Gondola mid-station.  Keystone is also going to debut their early season terrain park with over 25 new features, and is serviced by its very own chairlift.
