If you are on the east coast then you should make use of the current break in weather and get  yourself up to Boston to celebrate the start of winter with the Boston Ski & Sports Club (BSSC). The club which is comprised of over 50,000 sports enthusiasts and in operation since 1967 is celebrating with their annual kickoff party, Blizzard. Halfpipe skier Jen Hudak, a five- time X-Game medalist, will host the event which will be held at Club Royale on November 9.

The gathering includes a feature showing of the Ski Channel’s feature film, “WINTER”, in which Hudak is featured alongside more than 20 other mountain sport athletes. Hudak will present the film and will add to the festivities to kick off the ski season.

“I am very proud to be a part of ‘WINTER,’” says Hudak. “The amount of work and dedication that goes into being a pro skier is highlighted by the film and is much appreciated by all skiers trying to make a mark in the world of sports. I am especially excited to be back for this event in New England, where my career was born and my love of the sport was incubated.”

“WINTER,” the Ski Channel’s latest film, travels to the furthest reaches of the planet with a focus on mountain sports athletes who push the boundaries of their craft to sometimes unthinkable consequences. The film features wingsuit flying, paragliding, speedflying, climbing, hucking, and lots of amazing skiing. “WINTER” was filmed on location in Nepal, Antarctica, Chile, Alaska, Argentina, British Columbia and the United States and features a soundtrack by Bush.

The Ski Channel is thrilled to be partnered with BSSC as host of our Boston premiere of ‘WINTER,’” says Rich Tavtigian, the Ski Channel’s vice president of content and business development. “Attendees will instantly connect with the passion and drive of the ‘WINTER’ athletes who dedicate their lives to the same mountains we all love and look forward to getting back to at first snow. Having five-time X-Game medalist Jen Hudak attend the Blizzard event to introduce the film will be a real treat for everyone. ‘WINTER’ is coming!”

“BSSC has offered exciting ski & ride venues, trips and parties for almost 45 years,” says Nancy McGeoghegan, BSSC sales and marketing director. “Blizzard is an exciting way to reconnect with skiers and riders and to announce our calendar of day trips, weekends, ski vacations and season partners. This year will be over the top with our first Boston premiere with the Ski Channel and their phenomenal movie ‘WINTER,’ with its exciting skiing and mountain sport footage, and Jen Hudak, a native New Englander and champion halfpipe skier.”

Blizzard will also feature exhibits from industry partners like Sunday River, Killington, Cannon Mountain and Sugarloaf, as well as ski equipment manufacturers and retailers. BSSC and its partners will be giving away thousands of dollars in prizes and 500 attendees will receive lift tickets and deals from Mount Snow, Sugarbush, Stowe Mountain Resort and Mount Wachusett.

The BSSC Blizzard will take place on November 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Club Royale, 279 Tremont St., Boston.
