Simon Dumont is a pro skier with a solid reputation for high-flying success and is responsible for taking freesking in the half pipe to the next level. Its been six months since Dumont left his former sponsor Salomon. While any of the top ski companies would be thrilled to sponsor the Bethel, Maine native, it takes a special kind of organization to work with an athlete of his caliber and the most cutting edge product to match his level of skill. After months of testing skis in the southern hemisphere, the decision has been made; Simon Dumont and HEAD Skis are proud to announce the 25 year-old superstar will be joining the HEAD Ski equipment family!
Dumont’s three year deal covers skis, boots and bindings and makes him the only park or pipe skier on HEAD’s pro team, which is primarily comprised racing superstars, including fellow Americans and Olympic champions Bode Miller, Lindsey Vonn and Ted Ligety. The deal covers the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Simon to our Rebel team of ski athletes. Simon is widely regarded as one of the most creative and highly-respected freeskiers in the world, which fits perfectly with our leadership in performance and innovation” said Johan Eliasch, CEO of the HEAD group.
“I am stoked to be on the HEAD team, and to ski with HEAD product,” said Simon Dumont. “After testing other brands, it was obvious that HEAD makes the best equipment, and every year it seems their athletes win more often than for any other brand in the world. I’m psyched to be part of this winning team.”
Accumulating more victories and awards than any other halfpipe skier in the world, Dumont’s career achievements are lengthy and his abilities unparalleled. Some highlights include: winning the Whistler Invitational Super Hit, medaling at the X Games in SuperPipe every year from 2004-2009 (2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze), being crowned 2009′s Freeskiing’s Overall World Champion and changing the ski world forever by successfully skiing the first ever cubed half-pipe in May of 2011.
