POWDER magazine is celebrating its 40th anniversary the suave American way with hot dogs, special discounts, and a lot of partying. The three-day festivities will take place December 9-11 in POWDER’s birthplace, Sun Valley, Idaho. The magazine, currently read by more than 10 million enthusiasts, was founded in 1972 by brothers David and Jake Moe. Oozing love for active sports, POWDER is based on authenticity, experience, and respect for its readers, while remaining true to its mission of recording “the portfolio of the other ski experience”.

POWDER is inviting the public to come celebrate with everyone involved in the magazine’s success including professional skiers, photographers, writers, filmers, past editors, and more. The festivities begin on Friday, December 9, with Powder Prom. Clearly not your typical high school prom night, guests have to already be ripened past teenage angst to the age of 18 to get inside. Taking place at the Limelight Ballroom, the party will crown a king and queen based on their outfit and performance (somewhat reminiscent of teenage superficiality). Tickets go on sale soon and the extremely lucky winners will get Eddie Bauer First Ascent outwear and a heli skiing adventure with Sun Valley Heli Ski. .

The next part of the festivities includes a hot dog contest (for the hardcore American cuisine lovers) followed by a showcasing of 75 POWDER covers at the Ochi Gallery (some will even be featured in a live auction to raise money for the non-profit Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation). Rest assured that there is plenty more planned by these hardcore partiers as their Powder Party will close the house down to end the three-day celebration.

POWDER Editor, Derek Taylor says, “In the words of Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, ‘I’ve had the time of my life… and I owe it all to you.’ We’re partying in Sun Valley to celebrate POWDER the life-changing experience POWDER magazine has been for so many over the last four decades, and you really should be there. Clothing optional.”

Don’t forget to take advantage of the savings! Deals over the party weekend are starting at $79 for lodging, lunch, lift ticket, and $20 gift card. Get clued into all the celebrating at
