After only three days of operation for the winter season, Bear Mountain’s reputable terrain parks have had their share of visitors. Currently featuring 22 jibs and 10 snow features, the quick drive from Los Angeles into the Bernadino Mountains is now well worth it… the season has begun, folks!
But what makes Bear special? The parks at Bear Mountain include skiers and shredders of all ages and abilities, offering progression parks for inprovement and the most advanced freestyle parks. With over 120 jumps planned for the winter, 80 jibs to set up throughout the mountain, and Southern California’s only Superpipe, park rats will be running through this maze of features all day long.
Mike Benson and the Knife Show crew were on the scene for the opening weekend, and put together a tight video displaying the jib-tastic fun going down on the Big Bear slopes. Chris Reitsma, Robert Toast, Alan Ciriani, Dylan Bradley, and Casey Wrightsman all do their part to break in the features that have been collecting dust throughout the off season. After watching the video I think its safe to say we are cleared for take off! Bear and Knifeshow are kicking the season off in big ways — as always. Let the LA shred sesh begin! Who’s coming with?
If you are hesitant to get as gnarly as the Knifeshow riders, beginners should try out the Skill Builder Park — full of special intro level park features designed to make you better on your board. Bear also offers 1,700 vertical feet of top-to-bottom beginner-through-expert terrain spanning four mountain peaks. Backcountry terrain is available by way of Bear’s resort boundaries when conditions permit.
