Eric Pollard is known by fans around the world as one of the most innovative athletes in skiing. What people may not know is that when Pollard isn’t busy tearing up the slopes, he is behind the scenes designing, painting, filming…and generally bringing artistic expression to the sport.
That is why when Pollard learned about Evo’s art auction to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound, it was a no-brainer for him to donate a piece of his work to the action sports and lifestyle clothing retailer.
Founded by Pollards friend and freesking collaborator, Bryce Phillips, Evo explores the collaboration between culture and sport by seamlessly joining art, music, streetwear, skateboarding, snowboarding, skiing and wakeboarding. Our aim is to bring all things relevant to the urban, action sports lifestyle into one creative space. Whether it is on the website, on the phone or in our store, our aim is to make all who come into contact with evo feel welcome and excited about their experience.
The painting, The Calm Before The Storm, is an evo-exclusive original oil painting on canvas created by Pollard. The painting commemorates evo’s partnership with Pollard as well as years together skiing and sharing the love for it. Both evo and Pollard are working together to keep skiing progressive, fun, and accessible for all.
For Pollard, art and skiing go hand-in-hand: his skiing influences his art and his art influences his skiing. To express this relationship, Pollard launched Nimbus Independent, a successful film company, and his artwork has been featured on several of his sponsor’s products including the Line Mr. Pollard Opus Skis, Dakine Eric Pollard Team Heli Pro Backpack and the Bern Baker Audio Hard Hat, among others.
Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. It is their vision that all children achieve success in life
Their goal is to help children avoid risky behavior and cope with socio-emotional and self-esteem issues. In order to reach this goal, the organization partners with parents/guardians, volunteers, and others in the community to ensure that each child in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program achieves higher aspirations, gains confidence to overcome challenges, improves relationships with family and peers, and obtains educational success.
