South Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev. — Lifts began turning at Heavenly Mountain Resort at 8:30 a.m. PST Saturday morning, signaling the official kick-off to another Lake Tahoe ski and snowboard season. Ecstatic guests gathered in anticipation of first chair as Heavenly employees passed out gifts and free doughnuts. Heavenly is offering 44 acres of terrain, and the largest early-season terrain park that the resort has ever had. All access to the mountain is through the Heavenly Gondola, Tamarack Express Chairlift, and Dipper Express Chairlift.
The next generation of Vail Resorts’ popular ski and snowboard application, EpicMixTM, made its Heavenly debut, revolutionizing how guests take and share ski and snowboard photos. Upon request, the Company’s professional photographers will take and automatically deliver images to a guest’s EpicMix account by quickly scanning the guest’s RF-enabled lift ticket or season pass. Vail Resorts will provide these professional photos free to guests, in a “low-res” format for sharing on Facebook and Twitter, while high-resolution images can be purchased for $19.95, allowing guests to print unlimited copies at the vendor of their choice or on their own.
Winter Ignite, Heavenly’s Opening Week celebration, kicks off with the region’s highest-elevation après ski party at Heavenly’s spectacular Tamarack Lodge. From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. guests can experience the coolest Happy Hour around, with live music and DJs, half-priced drink specials, après-ski appetizers and the return of the Heavenly Angels, the resort’s popular promotional team. The party continues at the South Lake Tahoe premiere of “…Like There’s No Tomorrow,” the latest installment of the Warren Miller movie franchise, and a concert by Grammy-winning American blues and rocker Jonny Lang. The fun continues through a wild week of parties, music, entertainment and giveaways, culminating with a pool party inside MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa and a concert by British alt-rockers BUSH on November 26, 2011.
