Colorado’s Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) is celebrating opening day tomorrow, Wednesday, November 23rd. It also happens to be CBMR’s 50th birthday, so in honor of the special day, all guests will ski and snowboard for free on opening day! The annual “First Chair Celebration” will engage local kids as they line up hours before the opening to hit the first turns of the 2011/2012 winter season. Three chairlifts, two Magic Carpets, twelve trails, and a jib park will all be open tomorrow for the birthday celebration including party games, live music, and birthday cake.

9am Wednesday morning will see Red Lady Express, Teocalli, Peachtree, Pine and Aspen Magic Carpet lifts all up and rolling. 70 acres of trails will be opening, including: Peanut, Lower Keystone, Bubba’s Skiway, Houston, Warming House Hill, Augusta, High Tide, King’s Knob, Rustler’s Gulch, Ruby Access, Lower Ruby Chief, and Upper Conundrum.

Guests will also enjoy the new Zip Line tour. Making its debut back in June 2011, the Zip Line tour includes five zip lines and three suspension bridges. If that’s too exciting for you, there’s also the Adventure Park with miniature golf course, a bungee trampoline, and rock climbing wall. Everything opens starting Wednesday and running through Thanksgiving weekend.
