As the North American Aerospace Defense Command gets ready to track Santa’s yuletide journey on Christmas Eve, there is no doubt where Santa will be on Saturday December 17th as Whistler Blackcomb hosts the annual “Dress like Santa Day.” The first 75 qualified skiers and snowboarders will receive a free lift ticket when they check in at the Garibaldi Lift Company at the base of Whistler Mountain in full Santa or Mrs. Claus attire.

To qualify, skiers and snowboarders must arrive dressed in their very best Santa or Mrs. Claus costume. The costume must include red or black pants or a skirt for Mrs. Claus, a red jacket with white trim, a black belt, a beard for Santa and of course, a Santa or Mrs. Claus hat. The meeting time for all Santa and Mrs. Claus participants is 8:00am on the patio of the Garibaldi Lift Company at the base of Whistler Mountain. One free lift ticket per person will be awarded to the first 75 people who meet full costume requirements.

“Mrs. Claus and I never miss our annual ski holiday at Whistler Blackcomb,” says Santa Claus, “It’s always nice to be on the receiving end of the Christmas Gift for a change!”

All Santa and Mrs. Claus’s will upload the Fitzsimmons Express at 8:30am, continue up Garbanzo Express, then ride or ski to the bottom of the Emerald Express as a group for a photo opportunity. After the photos, a draw will take place at the bottom of the Emerald Express where participating Santa’s and Mrs. Claus’s will have a chance to win additional prize packages. After the photo, all are free to enjoy their day on the mountains.

While the “Big Event” for NORAD Tracking Santa’s progress doesn’t begin until the 24th of December, the NORAD Tracks Santa website, www.noradsanta.org, featuring a Countdown Calendar, a Kid’s Countdown Village complete with holiday games and activities that change daily, and video messages from students and troops from around the world went live today! The website is available in eight languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Chinese. As a result NORAD Tracks Santa has truly become a global experience, delighting generations of families everywhere.

There is also exciting news for the Santa lover on the go. Santa has gone wireless! Enabling parents and children to countdown the days until Santa’s take off on their smart phones using free apps in the Apple iTunes Store and in the Android Market.
