Snowshoe Mountain Opens for the 2011/2012 Season

Old Man Winter stopped by Snowshoe Mountain Resort earlier this week leaving a solid deposit of natural snowfall — about a half foot in all. Combine this with consistent cold temperatures for round the clock snowmaking efforts and you’ve got yourself a solid opening day at Snowshoe!

The mountain had their rope drop cermemony at 9am this morning and wasted no time getting the chair lifts fired up at both Snowshoe and Silver Creek. Its time for the east coast skiers and snowboarders to get shreddy!

The resort will open with approximately 30 acres of terrain for skiing and riding including the Silver Creek area, which will also be open for night skiing.

Snowshoe will be open from 9 am-4:30 pm and Silver Creek from 9 am-9 pm. The following slopes will be open at Snowshoe:  Skidder, a route from Heisler Way to Powder Monkey to Whiffletree and Spruce Glades with some features. Skidder, Ballhooter and the Magic Carpet will be running.   At Silver Creek, Cant Hook to Greenhorn through Lower Mountaineer serviced by Mountaineer lift will be open.
