The Streets at Seven Springs Promises to Reinvent Urban Snowboarding

Traditionally, urban snowboarding brings snowboarding off the mountain and to the streets. Riders who lack access to a mountain – or those just looking for a new challenge – will use the snow-covered urban landscape as a prop to shred.

Now, Seven Springs Mountain Resort is seeking to change the game of this growing sensation with “The Streets at Seven Springs” — a park dedicated solely to urban snowboarding.  The Streets will offer a wide array of rails, ledges, gaps and wall rides, all built with

the look and feel of riding in a city, but within the confines of a terrain park. Featuring an on-mountain replica of urban riding at its best, The Street pulls inspiration from the surrounding area of Pittsburgh and introduces riders to a whole new way of urban snowboarding.

Since 2004, Seven Springs has been committed to developing and growing its terrain parks. In addition to the existing six parks and more than 70 features, The Streets is likely the most innovative urban setup created. Due to its hard work and dedication towards these efforts, Seven Springs has been nationally recognized as the 2011-2012 number one terrain parks on the East Coast.

“Seven Springs is committed to providing the best parks and pipes in the country, and this is a great addition to our already solid program” said Joel Rerko, Seven Springs’ Director of Action Sports. “Our region is a perfect fit for this style of park and I know The Streets will help progress the riders of the lower East Coast.”

Seven Springs partnered with Forum Snowboards, Forum Team riders Pat Moore and Nic Sauvé and Snow Park Technologies on the creation of The Streets.

“The Streets is taking the concept of what a snowpark should be to a whole new level,” said Nic Sauvé. “I envy the kids who will grow up riding it!”

“The park looks so sick,” Pat Moore added. “I’m excited for the snow to come to bring it to life! I think we’ll be seeing some real good snowboarders coming out of Pennsylvania in the near future.”

“Being able to bring this level of urban features to a full access resort is something we used to only dream of,” said Forum Brand Manager Kevin Winkel. “The features in The Streets will forever change how resorts look at building parks.”

The Grand Opening of The Streets is scheduled for January 19, 2012.

The Streets is found just off The Polar Bear Express Chairlift at Seven Springs Resort in Pennsylvania. For more information, stay tuned to www.7springs.com.
