Holiday cheer is already in the air at Alaska’s Alyeska Resort and the fun will continue all December long! From special dinners, to the much anticipated holiday night-skiing schedule, to FREE SKIING there is a holiday activity or special event for everyone to celebrate! Check it out…

Santa Claus

On Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 7:00 PM. Santa Claus will be taking photos with the kids and enjoying holiday cookies, beverages and holiday spirit. Parents can drop off presents on December 20, 21 and 22 until 4:00 P.M. at the front desk of The Hotel Alyeska.

Night Skiing

The holiday night-skiing schedule kick-off December 17, 2011 and there will be night-skiing daily through December 30, 2011. Night-skiing will not be open however, on Saturday, December 24 2011. Night-skiing includes access on the Tram, Chair 1 and Bear Cub Quad from 4:00 to 9:00 PM. Night-skiing tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for students/seniors (60-69)/military, and $25 for children ages 6 to 12.

Free Lift Ticket

Take advantage of a rare opportunity for free skiing on Friday, December 23, 2011! All guests who wear a complete Santa suit (hat, beard, pants and jacket) can redeem a free lift ticket valid for December 23, by visiting any Alyeska Ticket Office.

Holiday Feasts

To celebrate another long-standing holiday tradition – overindulgence of good food – the resort is also offering a variety of special dining events at select restaurants. There are new winter menus in a number of dining spots including the Sitzmark Bar & Grill, Aurora Bar & Grill, and Seven Glaciers Restaurant. In addition, Sakura Restaurant, featuring Asian-inspired dishes and hand-rolled sushi, opens for ski season on Friday, December 16.

Seven Glaciers is located at the top of the scenic aerial tram, about a five minute ride. With advanced reservations, guests dining at the restaurant receive a complimentary tram ride. For the holiday season, the restaurant is open daily during the holidays serving lunch and dinner from 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. between December 16, 2011 and January 2, 2012. Regular hours resume in January 2012 when Seven Glaciers will be open for lunch and dinner on Fridays through Sundays.

Seven Glaciers Restaurant, winner of the AAA Four Diamond Award and Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence, is serving a special holiday-themed Chef’s Tasting Menu from the kitchen of Chef Jason Porter on Saturday, December 24, Sunday, December 25 and Saturday, December 31, 2011. For the winter, the Chef’s Tasting Menu includes five-courses for $79 per person with an option of paired wines for an additional charge. For families and large groups, The Pond Café is offering a traditional Christmas Day holiday buffet on Sunday, December 25, 2011 with four seating times: 1:00 P.M., 3:00 P.M., 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. The menu is available online and reservations can be made at 907-754-2237. Pricing is as follows: Adults ages 13 & over $38, children ages six to 12 $16, and children ages five and under eat for free (20% gratuity will be added).

The Pond Café will also host a special New Year’s Eve Dinner Buffet on Saturday, December 31, 2011 with seatings at 5:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. The menu is available online and reservations can be made at 907-754-2237. The Sitzmark Bar & Grill will be offering après ski holiday music with Sarahndipity on Saturday, December 24, 2011 starting at 3:00 P.M. This event is free and open to all ages.

Ring in the New Year

The schedule of activities leading up to New Years is filled with a variety of options. The highlight for the end of the year is the return of nationally acclaimed performers, Lez Zeppelin – an all girls Led Zeppelin tribute band. The band takes the Sitzmark Bar & Grill stage for three nights, December 29, 30 and 31, 2011 at 10:00 P.M. Tickets are $20 in advanced and $25 day of show for ages 21 and over. On the evening of December 31, 2011, the resort will put on its annual torchlight parade and fireworks show starting at 9:00 P.M. The parade consists of volunteer skiers and snowboarders in a procession down the slope creating a stunning visual effect. Immediately following, fireworks will illuminate the sky for a finale show. This event is free and open to the public. The best viewing is at the Daylodge base area. For those guests partaking in one of the holiday dinner special events on the evening of New Year’s Eve, the resort highly recommends taking an earlier seating or reservation in order to accommodate the start of the torchlight parade and fire works show.

On New Year’s Day, Sunday, January 1, 2012, The Pond Café will extend its normal breakfast service hours to 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Alyeska Extreme Buffet will include select Chef’s specials as a holiday treat.
